What would be your responsibilities?

As a News Manager you would be responsible for the news aspect and the day-to-day execution of one or more client accounts. It is the News Manager´s responsibility to send news reports to domestic or international clients and ensure a timely daily and/or weekly early morning delivery, coordinating effectively the research of international media coverage across the whole channel mix (social, digital & traditional). The News Manager delivers excellent account management to ensure that they are expert counsel to our clients; someone they can trust and rely upon to give them sound and honest advice. you will be responsible for line managing junior team members and responsible for their development. On occasion the News Manager will be asked to get involved in the recruitment and selection of new staff. They will also support in retention and growth of existing client news revenue and assist with new business when requested, including pitch preparation, leading new business proposals and creating creds documents.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for news client accounts and having direct communication with the client
  • Managing a small team effectively to ensure accurate and timely delivery
  • Finalising daily and weekly news reports to send out to domestic and international clients
  • Writing, editing and proofreading content for timely daily and weekly news reports
  • Summarising international media coverage to generate an excellent overview about today´s news
  • Researching international media coverage across the whole channel mix – social, digital & traditional
  • Selecting relevant content for client-specific news reports
  • Delivering excellent account management to ensure to be an expert counsel to clients
  • Line Management for and development of junior team members
  • Supporting in retention and growth of existing client revenue
  • paring daily and weekly news reports to send out to domestic and international clients
  • Providing support to News Managers in the running of client accounts
  • Writing and editing content for daily and weekly news reports
  • Summarising international media coverage into a digestible format
  • Researching international print and online media
  • Selecting relevant content for client-specific news reports
  • Supporting and training editors and assistants

The role is based on a full-time contract and the successful candidate would be expected to work 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Hours of work will be between 5.00am and 2.00pm daily.

We are looking for someone with:

  • At least two years’ experience in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or PR
  • At least one years’ experience in working on client accounts
  • An academic degree (Bachelors, preferably a Masters) in Marketing, Communications, Media, Journalism, Business Administration, Social Sciences or similar
  • Proven editorial and research skills – as part of a university project or examples of workplace experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English Language skills with in-depth understanding of grammar
  • Excellent communication skills with experience in client communication
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of MS Office
